Mijn.host pros
Mijn.host cons
Mijn.host is a small, independent hosting company that rivals any major Dutch hosting provider. On virtually every front.
They are one of the fastest hosting providers I've tested, offering excellent uptime (and they're transparent about it) with a customer service team composed entirely of experts. One drawback is that their customer service responses can sometimes take a few hours. On the plus side, their service is extremely competitively priced.
Mijn.host is one of the few hosting providers with practically unanimous positive user reviews. While this doesn't always tell the complete story, in this case it's entirely consistent with the quality of their service.
In this mijn.host review, I'll thoroughly examine this provider. By the end, you'll have a clear picture of whether it's the right hosting solution for your website. I'll also suggest some hosting alternatives in case certain aspects of mijn.host don't appeal to you.

My.host speed, uptime, and customer service
First, we'll examine the speed, uptime, and customer service of mijn.host. These are the factors that have the greatest impact on the quality of a hosting provider.
Speed
Getting straight to the point: mijn.host is fast.
I purchased their .wp basic plan (€9.99 per month). This plan turned out to be much faster than similarly priced plans from major Dutch providers such as Yourhosting and TransIP.
Having a fast host is incredibly important since speed is a Google ranking factor and fast websites convert better than slow ones (which means they generate more revenue).
I tested the speed of mijn.host with the following website setup:
- WordPress theme: Kadence
- Plugins: Block Navigation, Kadence Blocks, Post Duplicator
- SSL Certificate (Let's Encrypt)
- No speed or caching optimizations
This site contains images, various graphic elements and text. It is therefore representative of a real website. This provides a much better impression than just a bare WordPress installation. You can find the example site I used here.
GTMetrix
GTMetrix is a useful tool that gives you a comprehensive 360-degree view of your site's speed. The tool shows how you score on your core web vitals (which have been a Google ranking factor since 2021), what your TTFB (Time to First Byte) is, and more.

As you can see, mijn.host performs great. The total page load time at 733ms is well under one second. The performance scores and structure are nearly perfect at 99% and 98% respectively.
Additionally, the TTFB performs surprisingly well at 194ms, especially considering this is a relatively inexpensive hosting plan. Simply put, TTFB refers to the server response time. So if you click on a link and the TTFB is 500ms, it takes half a second before your webpage even begins to load. This is why you want this score to be as low as possible.
According to Google, you should start to worry when your TTFB exceeds 600ms. Anything below 200ms is described as “very good.” Scores under 200ms are typically reserved for hosting that costs at least twice as much as the plan I tested.
Google PageSpeed
PageSpeed is Google's own speed evaluation tool. Of course, you'll want to achieve the best possible score on it.
This also proved to be no problem at all for my.host.

In fact, the score was perfect. The only deficiency noted was the lack of caching and that the images weren't compressed enough. However, this was because I hadn't configured either of these settings myself and has nothing to do with the quality of the hosting service.
The great thing about the speed you're seeing here is that it works out of the box. You don't need to do anything yourself. This is especially ideal for beginners who want a fast site without any hassle.
Uptime
Having a fast website is important. But if it's offline, that doesn't do you much good.
Many hosting providers are vague about their uptime, but mijn.host is extremely transparent about this. They have a status page where you can see if there are any issues and whether there have been any incidents recently.

Mijn.host offers a 99.9% uptime guarantee. If they fall below this threshold, you won't have to pay for your hosting for the month in question.

Furthermore, I haven't been able to find a single complaint online about downtime with mijn.host.
Conclusion: the uptime of my.host is excellent.
Customer Service
At first glance, my.host's customer service feels somewhat spartan.

You can only reach them through support tickets (which operate via email), not through live chat or by phone. They're available Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 6 PM and on weekends from 10 AM to 5 PM.
Personally, I don't consider the lack of phone support to be a drawback. When it comes to hosting, issues can be resolved much faster and more easily through written communication.
Now about the response time. In my experience, it took about an hour and a half to get an answer to my question. This kind of wait time is acceptable, but personally, I prefer hosting providers that respond within minutes. Further on in this review, you'll read more about these types of providers if you also consider this important.
The good news: instead of dealing with hastily trained support staff, you'll exclusively work with hosting experts who will solve your problems quickly and efficiently.
Finally, mijn.host also has a fairly extensive knowledge base where you can find solutions on your own. The articles in it are sometimes a bit brief, but they're clear and to the point.

Taking a closer look at mijn.host
Setting up hosting with mijn.host
Setting up a hosting plan with mijn.host is incredibly simple. Once you've selected a plan (I'll discuss their plans in more detail later in this review), you choose a domain name for your site (or skip this step if you already have one).

Then you can add some extras to your order, such as a paid SSL certificate. The privacy protection could be useful if you need it (though I never get this myself), but you can skip the paid SSL certificate. These days, free SSL certificates work just as well.

Then you enter your personal details and can pay using various methods including credit card and iDeal.

Dashboard
Mijn.host uses an intuitive, easy-to-use dashboard where you can manage your hosting plan and domain names, handle payment methods, and restore backups.

For managing your hosting yourself, they offer the popular DirectAdmin. Within just a few clicks, you can install WordPress, Magento, Joomla and hundreds (!) of other web apps, set up your free SSL certificate, and access advanced features such as configuring your PHP version.

DirectAdmin is suitable for complete beginners and experienced users alike. As a beginner, you can simply skip the advanced features, while experienced users will find plenty of interesting configuration options.
Security
Mijn.host offers a free SSL certificate, antispam and firewalls, and monitors their servers 24/7. You can host your sites with them with complete peace of mind.
Hosting add-ons and features
My.host offers the following interesting hosting features and extras:
- Free migration service (ideal if you already have your site hosted with another provider)
- Email hosting
- Redis caching for fast loading times
- Automatic WordPress updates
- Daily automatic backups (included with every plan, retained for 30 days)
- Staging/test environment (ideal for safely testing new features, themes, or plugins on your site)
What really appeals to me is that these features are available with every plan. Many other hosting providers, for example, won't offer daily backups with their cheapest plans.
Mijn.host hosting plans and pricing
With mijn.host, you can choose from shared hosting, reseller hosting, VPS hosting, and dedicated hosting. For beginners and new, smaller websites (think up to several tens of thousands of visitors per month), shared hosting is almost always the best solution.
With shared hosting, you share a server with other websites. This keeps the costs relatively low and makes it easy to use for beginners. On mijn.host's website, you'll find their shared hosting options listed under “web hosting” and “WordPress hosting.
You can install WordPress on both types of hosting. However, their WordPress hosting is optimized specifically for WordPress and therefore offers the best performance for WordPress websites. If you want to create a site with WordPress, it's best to choose one of their WordPress hosting plans.
Web hosting
Here you can choose from 4 different plans. All plans run on LiteSpeed servers and include Redis caching. The main differences are in the hardware and disk space allocated to you.

.starter
- 3 website installations
- 2-core CPU
- 2 GB RAM
- 5 GB storage
- 50 mailboxes
- Cost: $1.99 per month ($3.99 per month upon renewal)
This plan is best suited for hobby projects.
.basic
- 5 website installations
- 4-core CPU
- 4 GB RAM
- 10 GB storage
- 100 mailboxes
- Cost: €3.99 per month (€7.99 per month upon renewal)

.advance
- 10 website installations
- 8-core CPU
- 8 GB RAM
- 50 GB storage
- 250 email accounts
- Cost: €7.99 per month (€12.99 per month upon renewal)

.ultimate

- 100 GB storage
- 250 mailboxes
- Cost: €9.99 per month (€16.99 per month upon renewal)
Perfect if you're looking for the best possible performance from shared hosting.
You can pay for these plans monthly or annually. If you choose to pay annually, you'll receive a 50% discount for the first year.
WordPress hosting
Mijn.host offers 3 different WordPress hosting plans.

As you can see, the specifications are slightly different from their “regular” hosting plans. That's because mijn.host places WordPress sites on separate servers that contain only WordPress sites – no other web applications such as Drupal or Joomla.
Choose one of these plans if you're a WordPress user.
Reseller hosting
If you develop websites for clients, you might want to offer hosting as an additional service. You can do this through the specially designed reseller hosting from mijn.host.

VPS hosting
Mijn.host offers one of the most comprehensive VPS hosting options you'll find in the Netherlands.

Dedicated hosting
You can get a dedicated server up and running within a day in Amsterdam, London or Frankfurt through mijn.host.

Money-back guarantee
If mijn.host doesn't quite meet your expectations, you can take advantage of their 14-day money-back guarantee.

This is shorter than the hosting industry standard of 30 days, but should be sufficient to form a good impression of the service.
What do users say about mijn.host?
Online user reviews for mijn.host are (almost) unanimously positive. They've earned an impressive 4.7/5 rating on TrustPilot.

And a 4.9/5 rating on Google reviews.

Users particularly praise the customer service, hosting speed, and user-friendliness of the service.

Alternatives to mijn.host
Mijn.host is an excellent provider. They're fast, offer good uptime, have outstanding features, and are attractively priced. Their customer service is good, but not extremely quick (response time of a few hours). Is it important for your business to have a hosting provider you can contact without any waiting time? Then consider the following options.
- Cloud86. A web host based in the Netherlands. Just as fast as mijn.host (they also use LiteSpeed servers) but they offer phone support that you can reach without any wait times. Cloud86 provides a wide range of hosting plans. They have shared hosting starting at just a few euros per month, but you can also configure your own custom VPS with them. Read our Cloud86 review here.
- Hostinger. An international budget hosting provider. They offer 24/7 customer service with approximately a half-hour wait time, but you can purchase premium support for just a few dollars per month to reduce wait times to just minutes. Hostinger delivers extremely fast hosting and is excellent for smaller websites. Read our Hostinger review here.
Conclusion
Mijn.host is easily one of the best hosting providers in the Netherlands. Their hosting is fast, stable, and comes with numerous useful features (such as daily backups, staging/test environments, and a migration service). Additionally, their plans are attractively priced and you can pay monthly, so you're not locked into long-term contracts like with many other web hosting companies.
Furthermore, their dashboard is simple enough for beginners while offering sufficient functionality for more experienced users.
Mijn.host is suitable for a wide range of websites. Their shared hosting works well for small and medium-sized sites with up to roughly 50,000 visitors per month, but if you outgrow this, you could upgrade to one of their VPS servers or dedicated hosting plans.
A side note regarding their customer service. While it's very good, with a response time of a few hours, it doesn't excel in terms of speed. If having customer service that you can reach immediately is important to you, consider one of the hosting providers listed above.
If this isn't a deal-breaker for you, then I can wholeheartedly recommend my.host.
