Wix or Webador… Which website maker should you choose?
Webador and Wix are two of the most popular website builders at the moment.
If you want to create a website yourself, and you think that using a website builder is the right path for you, you might be wondering which of these two platforms you should choose.
Why choose a website maker in the first place?
As long as I've been creating websites, I've done it with WordPress. I have extensively tested every well-known website builder, but I've never felt inclined to make any of them part of my website development arsenal.
Why is that?
In short, what it comes down to is that I want as much freedom as possible regarding the design and functionality of my site (with a website builder you're always forced into a straitjacket) and I also want to feel that I actually own my site.
With a website builder, you ultimately end up being tied to the whims of a single company. If they decide to radically increase their prices, tough luck. You can't simply transfer your site to a competitor. You'll have to rebuild it from scratch.
But okay. WordPress has its own challenges. And perhaps in your specific case, a website builder is simply the most sensible choice.

The bottom line is that in my opinion, you should choose a website builder when:
- You want to get a simple website online as quickly and with as little effort as possible
- If you don't mind paying a bit more (for Wix or Webador you pay at least ten euros per month – with WordPress you can get started for half that amount)
With that behind us, let's take a look at exactly how Webador and Wix differ from each other.
What are the main differences between Webador and Wix?
First, let's look at the cold facts in a nice table:
| Webador | Wix | |
|---|---|---|
| Origin | Dutch company founded in 2010 in Eindhoven | International company, active worldwide |
| Target audience | Complete beginners looking for a super simple website | People looking for a beautiful website with relatively little effort |
| Ease of use | Extremely user-friendly, ideal for beginners | User-friendly drag-and-drop editor, but platform has a slightly steeper learning curve |
| Templates | Limited selection of (often outdated-looking) templates | More than 800 free templates |
| Flexibility | Very limited customization options | Quite extensive customization options |
| App market | No app market available | Extensive app market with hundreds of apps |
| SEO capabilities | Basic SEO features | Relatively advanced SEO tools and features |
| Customer support | Dutch-language support | English-language support |
| Price | Starting from €8.00 per month | Starting from €16.00 per month |
In summary, Webador is an extremely simple tool of Dutch origin that is very affordable among website builders.
The designs of Webador are not flashy, the functionality is extremely limited, and you can't even extend this functionality with additional apps.
But… and this is very important for the target audience: there is truly no simpler way to build a website.
This is a very clear proposition if you ask me.
Wix, on the other hand, is just a bit more difficult to use and, even at its cheapest, is still quite expensive.
People who are leaning toward Wix should seriously consider whether they should simply choose WordPress instead. With WordPress, they would have a platform that is even more comprehensive, significantly cheaper, and ultimately not much more difficult to use.
Are you that person who's really looking for an extremely simple way to set up a website and who doesn't have complex needs (think level: online business card), then go for Webador.

Conclusion
For most people, building a site with WordPress is, in my opinion, more enjoyable, interesting, appropriate, and future-proof.
If you still want to go with Webador or Wix, then probably Webador is the more logical choice.
Wix falls somewhat between two stools in this regard. It's a solid website builder, but it claims to compete directly with WordPress, and between those two, WordPress is simply better.
