How to choose a domain name
A good domain name is short, easy to spell, and memorable. Here are a few things to keep in mind:
- Keep it short — ideally under 15 characters.
- Avoid hyphens and numbers when possible. They're hard to say out loud.
- If .com is taken, .io is a popular alternative for tech and tools.
- Don't use trademarked names or close variations of well-known brands.
- Say it out loud — if you have to spell it, it's probably too complex.
This checker uses real DNS data to determine availability. A result of "Available" means no DNS records were found — the domain is likely unregistered.
